The 4th of July is tomorrow. It’s one of my favorite holidays, despite us not being huge partiers and living in one of the hottest places in the United States. I just love getting together with family to eat delicious food, hang out, swim, and of course watching fireworks (even if Easton is terrified of fireworks & Lincoln is a little too tiny for how loud they are…maybe next year).
And even though I’m sitting in the Reno airport waiting to pick up Easton and bring him home, I’m totally ready to go! I’ve premade an awesome 4th of July bean dip that I’m excited to eat, and of course, share!
I’ve also found these other fun and delicious recipes for you to look through. There’s nothing like a delicious 4th of July treat to bring and share with all your friends and family, amiright?
I made this tasty Patriotic Bean Dip with Bush’s Best Black Beans for our party tomorrow. You can follow this recipe to create it for yourself!
- 2 cans of Bush’s Best Black Beans
- 1 can of sweet kernel corn
- 1 can of refried beans
- 1 medium size tub of guacamole (store bought)
- 1 small-to-medium tub of pico de guillo (store bought)
- 1 package of taco seasoning
- 1 package of Mexican blend cheese
- 1 small jar of chunky salsa
- Cherry tomatoes
This recipe is really simple as the bulk of it is just layering pre-made, store bought things (if you’re like me and don’t want to DIY).
I started by mixing 1 can of Bush’s Black Beans with the package of taco seasoning. Black Beans are a great source of protein, so if you’re looking for a way to add more protein to your diet but don’t eat meat, black beans are an awesome way to do that.
Bush’s Beans are my favorite beans to cook with because I feel like they are the best quality. They also have many different types of beans, including beans that are low in sodium, which is perfect for people who are watch their sodium intake. They’re also super delicious and really inexpensive! You can buy Bush’s Beans at your local Walmart and don’t forget to check and see if the Walmart near you has grocery pick-up, to make shopping a little easier (my favorite way to grocery shop).
So after mixing 1 can of Bush’s Black Beans with the taco seasoning, you would want to start layering your other ingredients.
Start with a bottom layer of refried beans. Spread it evenly along the bottom of your dish, and then you can add a layer of salsa. Following the salsa, add a layer of pico de guillo, a layer of the mixture of black beans and taco seasoning, and then a layer of corn, followed by guacamole.
To make the American Flag on top you’ll use the 2nd can of Bush’s Black Beans to make the top left-hand corner of the flag. Then you’ll make the stripes of the flag by alternating rows of halved cherry tomatoes and shredded Mexican blend cheese.
I think this is a fun recipe that adds a different twist to the typical layered dip recipe. It’s got a few delicious changes and it’s a little lighter without the addition of sour cream. Plus Bush’s Black Beans add a great protein punch!
