Motherhood is really hard.
If you’ve been a follower of my blog/social media for a while now, you’ll know that as much as I would love to be the perfect mom, I’m definitely not. Everyday I find something new and challenging to deal with, whether it’s toddler tantrums, keeping my home organized, or just putting up with picky eaters.
I try to be a good mom, but good mom means a different thing on different days. Sometimes good mom gets all the laundry done, cooks a dinner from scratch, and gets the kids in bed before 9. Other days good mom plays play-doh and does freezer nuggets.
It’s called balance.
Over the past three years I’ve learned a lot about being a mom and the challenges and triumphs that come with that title. And along the way I’ve learned that when hard days get me down or when the mom life gets too rough, there are three easy ways I can up my mom game.
- Get ready and get out: I loose my mind when I’m stuck inside all day long with the three year old and the baby. And it’s only worse when I’ve spent all day looking like a bum. So sometimes when things have just been a little too much to handle at home, I get ready (even if it’s 4 in the afternoon) and get out of the house. On cool days I’ll walk to the park. On warm days we might take a few laps around the store or just go get a drink. Just the act of getting dressed and leaving the house can bring my mood up, and when mom’s not stressed, everyone seems to be in a better mood (just our house??)
- Let the little things go: When it’s been several days and the kids have been crazy, the laundry has started to pile up, and I’m in the middle of a million other different things that I need to do, sometimes I need to let go of the little annoying things. Like when someone forgets to put up the toilet seat because I live in a house of boys, or when the three year old is a little too loud for our two bedroom apartment. Just letting go of the silly little things that don’t really matter can make me feel so much better.
- Take the easy way out: One of the biggest things that stresses me out is meals and snacks. As much as I’d love to cook a great meal everyday, I’m horrible at actually doing it. I wait until the last minute a lot and while I’m working on it, dinner often ends up being whatever quick and easy thing mom can pull together. Sometimes quick and easy means healthy, but sometimes it means chicken nuggets. And when that happens, I like to add easy but nutritional things into our quick meals. One great way to do that is by incorporating fruit or veggie puree pouches! We’ve tried all kinds of fruit and veggie pouches, but lately we’ve really liked the Happy Baby Clearly Crafted™ Pouches.
Happy Baby Clearly Crafted™ Pouches are a delicious way to add nutrients to your little’s diets. They’re not only full of delicious and healthy fruits and veggies that your kiddo will love, but they also come in a clear pouch so you can see exactly what your baby is eating. I, personally, love that because some of the other brands have had cases of mold (yuck) in their pouches! Clear back = you can easily see exactly what your baby is eating = no moldy baby food.
Happy Baby Clearly Crafted™ Pouches make an easy snack on the go and their great to throw in your bag. Even though Lincoln can’t eat baby food quite yet, I know that once he can I’ll definitely keep a few of these with me in my diaper bag and in my car for quick and healthy meals on the go. And Easton likes them too!
You can find Happy Baby Clearly Crafted™ Pouches at Walmart. And use this coupon for $1 off 3 pouches!
Being a mom isn’t easy, but it’s the best job in the world! I’m so glad able to raise my little guys, even though it has its challenges. These three tricks always help me feel better when I’m having a bad day.
